 Who is Shidduch World?
Shidduch World is group of Kollel men from Lakewood NJ who volunteer in helping others find Shidduchim. Feel free to contact us at info@shidduchworld.org for more information.

What’s the objective of this site?
The main feature of Shidduch World is its database, which is an extensive list of singles looking for Shidduchim. Users can search the site to find profiles that fit their criteria, and to get more detailed information about those individuals. Shidduch World’s Shadchanim also make use of the network to propose Shidduchim for those registered. Shidduch World also includes many other features, which you’ll find throughout the site, including a wealth of Shidduch information and advice.

Who is allowed access to Shidduch World?
Anybody can search the database, post a question or article, and join the list of people davening for those in need of Shidduchim. However, only registered users can request detailed information — including the actual name — attached to a specific profile. Additionally, registered users automatically become part of the database themselves, allowing our Shadchanim and users to find them and suggest Shidduchim for them.

How do I become a registered user?
You become a registered user by creating a profile including the name and personal information of a single who is looking for a Shidduch — usually, yourself or your child.

Who is allowed to become a registered user?
Singles and their parents are allowed to register with the database. Friends or relatives who wish to become registered users on behalf of a specific single have two options: 1) They can enter the single’s information on the database, SO LONG AS THEY HAVE THE SINGLE’S EXPRESS PERMISSION. 2) If the single is already part of the database, he or she has the option of providing others with his or her personal pass code and user name.

How much does it cost to register?
Nothing. Registration on Shidduch World is free.

 How does the search work?
You can choose a general search, which lets you search by gender, age, and location. You can also do a more advanced search, which helps you find people that meet your specific criteria, including learning/working, hat style, etc.

What kind of people will I find in the search?
Shidduch World only lists frum singles who categorize themselves as Heimish, Yeshivish, Chassidish, Litvish, Sefardi, and the like. We specifically cater to singles who classify themselves as mainstream Orthodox. You can specify your preference for a specific type in the search.

How do I know that the information I find on the database is real and accurate?
Every single listed on our database must also list the name and phone number of their Rav. Our staff personally verifies the availability of the single with the Rav listed. Nevertheless, despite our sincere efforts, Shidduch World cannot take responsibility for the information posted. Every individual must verify all information for himself.

If I register, does that mean that the whole world can get my name and personal information?
No. The search only allows users to see the ‘open’, more general aspects of your profile. These items allow people to get a general idea of what type of person you are, and what you’re looking for, without giving them the specifics of your name, your relatives, your address, and other identifying details.

Which parts of my profile can people see?
Regular users can see the ‘open’ information hidden above. Registered users who request additional information can get your name and other identifying details. Pictures that you upload will only be shared with your explicit consent. (Shidduch World will notify you of any requests for your picture.)

Can I register in the database, but not have anyone see my profile?
Yes. If you choose, you may register “for Shadchanim only,” in which case your profile remains hidden from all users other than Shidduch World’s Shadchanim. However, if you choose to register in this way, you will not be given access to detailed information registered user profiles. If you find a profile that you are interested in, you may either register in the standard way in order to gain more information, or you may request that one of our Shadchanim pass your information on to the other party.

What do I do if I want more information about a specific individual?
If you are a registered user, you can send a request to Shidduch World for more information on any registered single in our database. While this information will generally be furnished to registered users, a request for information does not automatically guarantee that you will receive that information. Rather than being an automatic process, requests for information are personally responded to by Shidduch World staff. In this way, we can ensure that nobody takes advantage of and abuses the system.

Can I see a picture of the person I’m interested in?
If you are a registered user, you may request a picture of a specific person. Shidduch World will then forward your request to the other side. If they agree, we will forward their picture to you.

Who will suggest the Shidduch to the other side if I’m interested?
If you are interested in a specific Shidduch, you may request that one of our professional or volunteer Shadchanim suggest the Shidduch to the other side. Assuming that the Shidduch seems appropriate, our Shadchanim will suggest the Shidduch at no cost to you (other than the traditional Shadchanus when the Shidduch Im Yirtzeh Hashem goes through!). If our Shadchanim are reluctant to suggest the Shidduch for whatever reason, you may approach any Shadchan of your choice and ask them to suggest the Shidduch.

Just because somebody says that they ‘have permission’ from the single in whose name they registered, how do you know that they really have permission?
Every profile must include the number of the single involved. Our staff uses that number to personally confirm the permission with the single.

What do I do if I’m looking for a Shidduch for a relative or friend, but I can’t become a registered user?
You can still search the database and look for profiles that look appropriate for your relatives or friends. When you come across a name that looks interesting, you can suggest that the single or their parents request additional information as registered users.

Can registered singles (or their parents) search the database on behalf of other friends or relatives?
All users can search the database for profiles, regardless of whether or not the Shidduch is for themselves or others. However, NO user — even a registered user — may request detailed information about a profile UNLESS THE SHIDDUCH IS FOR THE PERSON WHOSE INFORMATION IS LISTED AS YOUR LOGIN PROFILE. If you find a profile that seems appropriate for somebody else, we suggest that you encourage him or her to register themselves and request the information directly.

Do I really want a computer making my Shidduch?
Of course not! But it’s not the computer making the Shidduchim—it’s people. The computer only holds the database as a means of access and reference. The actual Shidduchim are brought about by users of the site, or by the Shadchanim who carefully research and give serious consideration to each and every Shidduch.

What’s the benefit of the Hire a Shadchan service?
Shidduch World’s volunteer Shadchanim have access to the database, and suggest Shidduchim to registered users. The Hire a Shadchan service, however, will provide a Shadchan who will keep you in mind on a more personal level, and suggest Shidduchim exclusively appropriate for you. When a suggestion turns out not to be Bashert, a personally hired Shadchan will continue to consider and try other possibilities for you.

Will the whole world see the answer to my question to a Rav, doctor, or Shadchan?
Questions and answers on the Ask a Rav, Doctor, or Shadchan page are generally posted and available for all users, so it would be a good idea to leave identifying details out of your posted questions. If the questioner asks that their question not be posted, that request will be honored. All answers are only for reference purposes; please contact your own Rav for Psak Halachah, and your own doctor for medical advice.

Can I be a part of shidduchworld without having internet access?

Yes, you can be a part of Shidduchworld; however you can not do a search to see the profile of other's. You can fax us your profile on the 'Profile Application' that we provide and we will enter the information for you. You will also fill out a form of what you're looking for that we will enter under your profile.

When a match will be entered by someone else, shidduchworld will receive an e-mail with this information and we will contact you.

We can also do a search for you on our data base.
There is a fee for this service.
